Why this site exists
Preparing an image often means meeting several different requirements: pixel dimensions, proportions, file format, and a byte limit. ToolFoundry provides local resizing, cropping, conversion, and compression alongside image inspection and print planning. Each tool explains what it changes and what it cannot recover.
Independent operation
ToolFoundry is independently operated by an individual and is being developed through small, practical releases. The service avoids unnecessary accounts, uploads, and paid infrastructure while its usefulness is validated.
How the tools work
Image inspection and processing run locally in your browser using standard browser file, image, and canvas APIs. Selected images are not sent to ToolFoundry servers. Exports report actual bytes and pixel dimensions. Calculator pages use documented arithmetic that can be verified independently. Source files remain unchanged.
Editorial approach
Guides distinguish image PPI from printer DPI, avoid treating 300 DPI as a universal pass/fail rule, and account for viewing distance and cropping. Format guidance separates transparency, compression, and pixel dimensions. References support factual claims, and dates show when content was last reviewed.
Important limits
Results are planning estimates, not a replacement for a print proof or the production requirements of a printer, publisher, marketplace, or client. For critical work, confirm dimensions, color profile, bleed, and sharpening with the provider.
