About ToolFoundry
Clear image measurements, transparent calculations, and no unnecessary upload step.

Why this site exists
Image metadata is easy to misread. A file marked 72 DPI may print well, while a file marked 300 DPI may still be too small. ToolFoundry connects pixel dimensions to physical output and explains the assumptions behind every estimate.
Independent operation
ToolFoundry is independently operated by an individual and is being developed through small, practical releases. The service avoids unnecessary accounts, uploads, and paid infrastructure while its usefulness is validated.
How the tools work
Image inspection runs locally in your browser using standard browser file and image APIs. Selected images are not sent to ToolFoundry servers. Calculator pages use documented arithmetic that can be verified independently.
Editorial approach
Guides distinguish image PPI from printer DPI, avoid treating 300 DPI as a universal pass/fail rule, and account for viewing distance and cropping. Dates show when content was last reviewed.
Important limits
Results are planning estimates, not a replacement for a print proof or the production requirements of a printer, publisher, marketplace, or client. For critical work, confirm dimensions, color profile, bleed, and sharpening with the provider.
